In 2010, Eurokleis has participated in the ERINA+ research project, commissioned by DG Information Society of the European Commission, in order to optimise a methodology for the socio-economic self-assessment of European e-Infrastructure projects, already tested by the previous Erina project.

The Erina+  methodology was created from the issues detected by the ERINA project, in order to eliminate the limitations encountered and to increase the impact of e-Infrastructures for research. The methodology has been applied to various e-Infrastructures projects, to detect the socio-economic potential benefits.

The main purpose of ERINA+ is to propose a pro-active self-assessment methodology for each specific project and a series of recommendations for efficient and sustainable investments in electronic infrastructures related to the industry. To this end, 20 projects were evaluated using the ERINA+ methodology. Every technological aspect of the project has been analyzed not only with reference to the potentiality for innovation and sustainable socio-economic impact, but above all, in accordance to the ability to transfer research results to the society. This evaluation system allows projects to modify and correctly orient their activities, increasing the efficacy of funding research efforts.
